This Accounting Manager will be a key member of the accounting department, they will be conducting month-end closing for Nexion Canada ULC, which includes analyzing revenues/costs to prepare monthly accruals, intercompany and balance sheet reconciliation and oversees daily accounting operations.  This position requires great communication skill and the ability to maintain a positive client relationship. This position interacts with all levels of employees and must develop and maintain productive relationships.

 

This role may be eligible for an incentive, commission, bonus, or a discretionary bonus program based on the company’s financial goal achievement and individual performance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising a remote team of five located in Montevideo, Uruguay.
  • Month-end closing responsibilities include:
    • Responsible for the timely generation of numerous monthly closing entries for contributing to the accuracy and completeness of financial reports.
    • Responsible for Revenue-COS related intercompany accounting for various divisions.
    • Responsible for monthly accruals for Revenues and Expenses.
    • Responsible for monthly general ledger/ Revenue-COS related balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Oversees team members in processing daily A/R and A/P functions:
    • Back-office accounting, which includes weekly client/vendor payables and receivables.
    • Cash postings and reconciliations.
    • Group reconciliations. Including Purchasing card maintenance.
    • Assist with receivable management and collection process.
    • Research and resolve customer issues as required.
    • Periodic filings to the Canadian government.
    • Reconcile Air BSP weekly file/cash.
    • Reconcile Merchant charges vs Bank transactions.
    • Issue, record and charge member fees timely. As well as reach out to agent for collection/communication with member services on member fee collection statuses.
    • Responsible for bi-weekly commission reconciliation to be disbursed to agents.
    • Maintain agent master spreadsheet and Agent RBCEdge banking information.
  • Assist with Nexion Canada stat audit (local audit for annual filing to TICO and IATAN).
  • Bank liaison for all Credit Card, LOC, banking issues.
  • Trams admin / POC for all Trams issues and licensing.
  • Issue annual T4’s to agents/vendors. Keep record and reconciliation of all agent payments and reconciled to match with SmartView. Maintain agent banking and tax information for tax filing purposes.
  • Work with cross-functional areas to identify and implement continuous process improvements.
  • Ensure data quality, transparency, timeliness, and accuracy.
  • Provide professional mentoring to less experienced team members.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of general accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Travel Industry experience preferred
  • Commission payments/receipts and reconciliation of Travel Bookings experience preferred
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel.
  • Must be a self-motivated team player, organized, detail oriented, have excellent written and oral communication skills and listening skills.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently.
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimum supervision.
