Responsibilities

 

The Sales Compensation Administrator is responsible for administering, validating, and processing sales incentive and commission payments across assigned plans. This role ensures payments are accurate, consistent with approved incentive plan provisions, and submitted timely to Payroll for processing. The position partners with Compensation, Payroll, Finance, Sales Operations, and business leaders to resolve exceptions, strengthen controls, and recommend opportunities for automation and standardization.

 

Incentive & Commission Administration

  • Administer recurring sales incentive and commission payment processes for assigned plans.
  • Compile, review, and validate commission and incentive payment data received from internal business partners.
  • Calculate, review, or audit incentive and commission payouts in accordance with approved plan documents.
  • Prepare payment files and supporting documentation for submission to Payroll within established deadlines.
  • Maintain records and documentation supporting payout calculations, reviews, and approvals.

Plan Compliance & Payment Validation

  • Validate participant eligibility, performance results, quotas, attainment, and payout calculations against approved incentive plan rules.
  • Review incentive and commission results for consistency with plan provisions, payment thresholds, and internal controls.
  • Identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, and potential overpayments or underpayments before payroll submission.
  • Conduct pre-processing audits of payment reports and supporting data to support accurate and compliant payouts.

Exception Resolution & Stakeholder Support

  • Investigate payment exceptions, discrepancies, and employee or manager inquiries related to incentive and commission payments.
  • Follow up with data owners regarding missing, incomplete, or inaccurate information impacting payment calculations.
  • Partner with Compensation, Payroll, Finance, Sales Operations, and business leaders to resolve payment-related issues.
  • Document exception resolutions and recommend corrective actions to reduce recurring issues.

Process Improvement, Automation & Standardization

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, consistency, and control within sales compensation administration processes.
  • Recommend system automation, workflow enhancements, and standardized operating procedures to reduce manual processing.
  • Assist with testing compensation-related system enhancements, integrations, reports, and process changes.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, job aids, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects or other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in compensation administration, payroll, finance, accounting, sales operations, or a related analytical role.
  • Experience with incentive compensation, commission processing, payroll administration, payment validation, or financial reconciliations preferred.
  • Experience working with HRIS, payroll, incentive compensation, or sales compensation systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and data validation techniques.
  • Ability to interpret and apply incentive plan provisions, eligibility rules, payment thresholds, and business rules.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict processing deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner across Compensation, Payroll, Finance, Sales Operations, and business leadership.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive compensation and payroll data.
  • Process improvement mindset with interest in automation, standardization, and control enhancement.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising has been developed to give applicants a range based on the local market where the candidate would be working.  Many factors, such as years of experience, budget etc. are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. 

 

This role may be eligible for an incentive, commission, bonus, or a discretionary bonus program based on the company’s financial goal achievement and individual performance.
